If you’re serious about building a sustainable speaking business, I’ve got a simple but powerful challenge for you:

👉 Stay consistent. Stay intentional.

Show up for the next two months like your future depends on it — because it does.

Here’s the framework:

1. Reach Out to 5 New Leads a Day (or 25 per Week)

You can spread this out daily or bulk it once a week — the key is maintaining an average of 5 new contacts per day. No full week should go by without this happening.

Where to find these leads:

  • LinkedIn connections
  • Past leads and inquiries
  • Past clients and contacts
  • Social media followers/fans
  • Referrals (past and new!)
  • Engaged email subscribers
  • Calls for speakers in your industry or niche

(Pro Tip: Set up Google Alerts for your keywords to catch speaking opportunities automatically.)

2. Set a Minimum Speaking Fee — and Don’t Go Below It

Decide the minimum amount you are willing to accept (for example, $5,000 per talk, all-in).

Then — keep that promise to yourself.

As you build consistency in your outreach, you’ll gain more control and confidence over what gigs you say yes (or no) to.
Bonus: Want to give back with occasional pro bono or charitable talks? We can strategize how to do that — on your terms, without undervaluing your work.

3. Gain Clarity on Your Target Audience

On a piece of paper, draw a line down the middle:

  • Left side: People you could realistically book with right now.
  • Right side: People you aspire to work with in the next year (dream bigger!).
Start by targeting your best-fit leads today—and grow into your dream list through consistent action.

4. Prioritize Open Door Gigs
There are two types of gigs:

  • Open Door Gigs = Events where your ideal buyers are in the room (like state or national association events). These gigs lead to more gigs.
  • Dead End Gigs = Internal events where future buyers usually aren’t present. Valuable? Yes. But momentum often stops here.
Focus on open-door opportunities first to build momentum smarter, not harder.
(Tip: If national-level events feel out of reach, start with state or local chapters and work your way up.)

Now Here’s the Real Question:

What would your speaking business look like two months from now if you did this?

If you showed up consistently? Reached out daily? Positioned yourself as the expert you are?

✏️ Pro Tip: Write down your WHY. Post it where you can see it every day.

This is for the moments when it feels easier to quit.

Show up for yourself — and remind yourself why it matters.
